A Walk-In Pantry (So You Can Actually Find the Vanilla) No more stacking bags of flour on top of the crockpot just to find the cinnamon. Hidden Trash & Recycling Nothing ruins holiday vibes like a trash can in the middle of the kitchen. Why it’s magical: Double ovens mean multitasking is a breeze, especially during holiday meals. 6. Better Lighting (So You Can Actually See Your Gingerbread House) Too dark? Too yellow? • Before You Replace Your Windows, Read This (Wichita Edition)

By Christian Raab Is Your Home Letting in Problems You Can’t See? You’re not imagining it—your home feels drafty, your energy bills keep climbing, and that one window won’t shut all the way. You know it’s time to replace your windows… but with so many options out there, it’s hard to know which method is best. I have talked to many Wichita homeowners and I know it can be overwhelming!  Many Wichita homeowners are being sold insert windows. They sound quick and cheap—but they may be covering up bigger problems. Early in my career I worked for a contractor that did this kind of window replacement and I was shocked how quickly we could remove and install new windows. There were three of us and we could replace the windows in a 2000 square foot home in about 1-2 days. I thought it was really awesome!  As I grew in my knowledge of construction, however I soon realized that pocket windows in many cases are covering up problems. I soon realized that many of the problems with windows are not just the window but the frame around the window, the lack of insulation between the window and framing and the rot on the framing around the window. Doing the pocket window method does not reveal any of these problems. The Real Problem: Insert Windows Don’t Address the Frame Insert (or “pocket”) windows slide a new window inside your old window frame. That sounds convenient—until you realize: The old frame could be rotted, moldy, or poorly insulated and you would never know! There’s no way to inspect or repair water-damaged framing Your new windows are only as good as what’s underneath them That’s like putting a new roof on a leaky foundation. It looks good now—but the hidden damage keeps growing. At Pinnacle, We Take a Better Approach: Full-Frame Window Replacement Here is our process: We remove the entire window—frame, trim —- everything We inspect and repair rot, mold, and damage We install modern, energy-efficient windows with new trim, flashing, and insulation We leave you with windows that look better, seal tighter, and last longer Why Wichita Homes Need This After 15+ years remodeling homes in Wichita, Andover, Derby, and etc. here’s what we’ve seen again and again 1. Wichita Weather Is Brutal on Windows Sun, hail, wind-driven rain, and freezing temps create wear and tear—especially around old wood frames. Insert windows ignore that. 2. Many Homes Built in the ‘70s–’90s Used Cheap Windows They weren’t built to last 40+ years. Full-frame replacement helps upgrade your home’s protection  and extend its lifespan. 3. You Want It Done Right the First Time Our process makes sure nothing is missed—no hidden rot, no air leaks, no cutting corners. Just solid craftsmanship. • How Hard Is It to Remove a Wall in Your Home? Wichita Experts Explain the Real Challenges

By: Christian Raab Have you ever wondered what it takes to remove a wall in your home? Maybe you're dreaming of that open-concept kitchen or a brighter, more spacious living room. But you’ve also heard horror stories like collapsing ceilings, unexpected wiring, or surprise permit issues, and now you're asking: Is wall removal really that hard, or is it something a motivated homeowner can tackle? In this article, you’ll learn exactly what goes into removing a wall in a Wichita home. We’ll break down structural risks, cost factors, building codes, and the DIY vs. professional decisions so you can move forward with clarity and confidence. Why Do Homeowners Want to Remove a Wall? Wall removal has become one of the most common remodeling requests -  especially for homeowners looking to modernize older homes with closed-off floor plans. Want a better flow between the kitchen and living space? Tired of dark, cramped rooms that feel disconnected? Inspired by shows like Fixer Upper  or Love It or List It ? You’re not alone. Wall removal is often the first step toward that “open-concept” dream. But opening up your space doesn’t come without risks… or costs. Is the Wall Load-Bearing? Here’s Why That Changes Everything This is the first and most important question you must answer. A load-bearing wall is one that supports the weight of your home.   If you remove it without proper planning, you could compromise the structure leading to sagging ceilings, cracked walls, or worse. Here’s how to tell if a wall is load-bearing: It runs perpendicular to ceiling joists It’s near the center of the home There’s another wall or beam stacked directly above or below But this isn’t always obvious.  Even professional contractors often open the wall before confirming, especially in custom or older Wichita homes. Bottom line:  Always consult a licensed contractor or structural engineer before touching a wall. What’s Inside the Wall? More Than You Think It’s not just wood and drywall. Inside your wall, you may find: Electrical wiring HVAC ducts Water or gas lines Load-bearing beams or posts Old framing methods that complicate removal Each of these requires careful rerouting or replacement which adds time, cost, and coordination with electricians, plumbers, or HVAC techs. Don’t assume you’re just knocking out a blank space .  Surprises behind drywall are extremely common, especially in older Wichita homes. How Much Does It Cost to Remove a Wall in Wichita? The answer depends on three main factors: Is it load-bearing? What’s inside the wall? Who’s doing the work — you or a pro? Cost Breakdown:           Wall Type Estimated Cost Range Non-load-bearing (DIY possible) $500 – $3,000 Load-bearing (requires pro support) $5,000 – $15,000+ With extensive utilities inside $7,500 – $20,000+ Remember:  Prices include permits, disposal, temporary support beams, labor, finishing (drywall, paint, flooring), and sometimes new structural headers. Wall removal isn’t always cheap, but it can be transformational when done right. DIY vs Hiring a Pro – Which One’s Right for You? Some homeowners consider taking the DIY route  and in very specific cases, it’s doable. But it’s not for everyone. DIY MAY be possible if: The wall is non-load-bearing There are no wires, plumbing, or HVAC inside You have experience with framing, drywall, and finish work You’ve checked local permit requirements Hire a Pro if: You're unsure whether it’s load-bearing You find any utilities inside the wall Your remodel needs permits or structural changes You want peace of mind that it’s done safely and legally Mistakes can be expensive or dangerous. For most Wichita homeowners, hiring a licensed contractor is the safest bet. What Permits and Regulations Apply in Wichita? Yes — you need a permit to remove most walls in Wichita. The City of Wichita requires permits for: Any structural changes (load-bearing walls) Modifications to electrical, plumbing, or HVAC Demolition that affects more than finish surfaces You will also need inspections before and after the work. Failing to get permits can cause problems when you sell your home — or worse, lead to fines or unsafe construction. Common Mistakes Homeowners Make When Removing Walls We thought it wasn’t load-bearing.  Even experienced DIYers make this mistake  and the consequences can be serious. We didn’t pull permits.  Later, during a home sale, buyers backed out or required expensive retrofitting. We didn’t budget for the surprises inside the wall.  Plumbing, wiring, or ductwork added thousands and weeks of delay. We didn’t finish it properly.  Mismatched flooring, uneven ceilings, and ugly transitions killed the look. If you’re going to do this, do it right the first time. Conclusion: Should You Remove a Wall in Your Wichita Home? Removing a wall might sound like an easy weekend project but it’s rarely that simple.  Between structural concerns, local codes, hidden utilities, and cost, it’s often better left to professionals. You came here wondering: “Is removing a wall really that hard?”  Now you know: It can be but not if you approach it with the right knowledge and support Need help? At Pinnacle, we’ve helped hundreds of Wichita homeowners design and plan remodels. If you’re still unsure whether a wall is safe to remove or want a second opinion just reach out. We’re happy to help!

  • Wichita Room Additions: Why Families Choose to Add On Instead of Move

Room additions are a popular solution for homeowners who love their current location but need more space. Home additions in Wichita are becoming increasingly sought after, as they offer custom, functional, and luxury options that seamlessly blend new spaces with existing homes while expanding your overall living space. These home expansion projects not only enhance lifestyle and address growing family needs, but also increase property value in Wichita, KS. Many families find themselves running out of space as their needs change, but moving isn’t always the best option. Instead, you can build additions that expand your living area with a well-designed room addition that fits your lifestyle and budget. Whether you’re looking to add a new bedroom, a sunroom, or a specialized space, there are endless possibilities for homeowners considering room additions in Wichita. Wichita Families Are Making a Different Choice Across Wichita, families are hitting the same wall: We love our home, but we’re running out of space. In years past, the easy answer was to move. Find a bigger house, pack up, and go. But in today’s housing market, that option doesn’t feel so easy—or smart. With record-low mortgage rates locked in, higher prices for new homes, and fewer listings, Wichita families are deciding to stay put. Instead of moving, more homeowners are choosing room additions  to get the space they need—without giving up the home, neighborhood, and lifestyle they already love. Additions in Wichita, KS offer a practical solution for expanding your living space, modernizing interiors, and increasing your home's value with the help of local experts. Whether you’re thinking of expanding into an outdoor living space , working with a trusted partner  ensures your project meets local standards and enhances both function and aesthetics. Planning a room addition is a significant undertaking that involves careful consideration, design, and execution to ensure the best results. Additions to homes provide additional room for a growing family, including new bedrooms or larger living areas. Why Room Additions Make Sense in Wichita Right Now Keep Your Low Interest Rate  – Selling often means giving up a mortgage with a 2-3% rate and replacing it with one closer to 7%. By adding on, you keep that low monthly payment and simply invest in the extra space you need. Stay in the Neighborhood You Love  – You already know your neighbors, schools, and commute. An addition means more room without starting over. Customize Your Space  – Instead of settling for what's on the market, you get to design the exact solution you need: a new master suite, an expanded kitchen, or a light-filled sunroom. Save on Moving Costs  – Realtor commissions, closing costs, and moving trucks can add up to tens of thousands of dollars. Boost Long-Term Value  – A well-designed addition adds not only function and comfort but also resale value down the road. Master suites, kitchen expansions, and second-story additions generally offer the highest return on investment. Types of Room Additions Expanding your living space with a room addition is one of the most effective ways to enhance both the functionality and value of your home in Wichita, KS. Whether your family is growing, your lifestyle is changing, or you simply want to create your dream home without leaving your existing neighborhood, there are a variety of room addition options to consider—each designed to add extra space and convenience tailored to your needs. Master Suite Additions: Imagine coming home to a spacious bedroom retreat, complete with a walk-in closet, spa-inspired bathroom, and carefully selected luxury finishes that elevate comfort and long-term value. A master suite addition not only gives you a private sanctuary but also increases your home’s value, comfort, and reflects your personal style . Family Room Additions: If your current living area feels cramped, a new family room can provide the perfect spot for movie nights, game days, or simply relaxing together. Family rooms are a popular way to create an open, inviting space where everyone can gather. Dedicated Home Office: With more people working remotely, a dedicated home office has become a must-have, often incorporating smart home technology for improved lighting, climate control, and connectivity. A custom office addition offers a quiet, productive environment—separate from the hustle and bustle of daily life—so you can focus and thrive. Garage Additions: Need more storage or a safe place for your vehicles? Garage additions not only protect your cars from Kansas weather but also offer valuable extra space for tools, hobbies, or even a workshop. Second Story Additions: When you need significant extra square footage but don’t want to sacrifice your yard, second story additions are the answer for dramatically increasing your living space without expanding your home’s footprint. Add bedrooms, bathrooms, or even a bonus room—doubling your living space while keeping your existing home’s footprint. Sunroom Additions: Bring the beauty of the outdoors inside with a sunroom. These bright, airy spaces are perfect for enjoying morning coffee, reading, or entertaining friends while soaking up natural light year-round. Bathroom Additions: An extra bathroom can make a world of difference for busy families. Whether it’s a guest bath, a kids’ bathroom, or a luxurious new ensuite, a bathroom addition adds both convenience and value. Basement Finishing: Transform your unfinished basement into a functional living area—think home theater, game room, or guest suite. Basement projects are a smart way to maximize the space you already have. When planning a room addition, it’s important to consider your family’s lifestyle, your budget, and the layout of your existing home. It’s also wise to gather multiple quotes so you can clearly compare scope, materials, timelines, and overall value before committing to a contractor. A well-designed addition should blend seamlessly with your current space, enhancing both daily living and long-term value. • Design Minute: Open Concept Storage Solutions for Your Kitchen

Love the idea of an open concept kitchen but are afraid of the sacrifices you'll have to make in the way of storage? Don't worry—we have options! In this post, Pinnacle Remodel owners, Rachel and Christian Raab, walk you through the common challenge homeowners face when moving to an open floor plan for their kitchen : how to keep generous storage when you've opened up walls and added a large island. This post outlines the practical solutions we used to preserve—and even improve—storage in a remodeled open kitchen. The challenge: opening the kitchen without losing storage Open concept kitchens are popular because they create a welcoming place to gather with family and friends. The problem is, often, an open concept kitchen is easier to implement than open concept storage. The absence of walls where cabinets or shelving can be installed leads to a drastic reduction in storage. Take a recent open kitchen project we did, for example: We removed two walls to open the kitchen to the living room and dining room, and added a large kitchen island to anchor the space. The result was a modern, airy layout with a cohesive living space and dining space—but it also meant fewer walls for upper cabinets. Where people traditionally store plates, cups, and everyday items in cabinet spaces along the kitchen walls, that simply wasn't available after opening up the layout. The question became: how do we maintain ample storage while preserving the openness our clients wanted? The primary solution: a large walk-in pantry For this kitchen, the most effective solution was adding a large walk-in pantry. A dedicated pantry delivers several benefits that make it an ideal complement to an open concept kitchen: Tons of food storage:  Open shelving and organized zones for canned goods, dry goods, and bulk items. Open cubbies or storage boxes can be used on open shelves to maximize space and organization within the pantry. Cutting boards can be stored vertically to free up some extra space while being easy to access. Small countertop space:  A short work surface inside the pantry provides a convenient spot for food prep, staging dishes, or housing small appliances out of sight. Additional drawers:  Built-in drawers in the pantry add more storage for linens, small appliances, and other items that don't belong in the main kitchen footprint. Properly organized, these drawers reduce clutter and make the most of a small space. Flexible shelving:  Adjustable shelves accommodate everything from larger items like cereal boxes to spare platters and decorative dishware. A properly designed walk-in pantry allows you to keep sightlines open and maintain the style and visual appeal of a modern kitchen without sacrificing organization or storage capacity. You can also design the pantry to your needs and square footage. Some people build a more complete butler's pantry with a sink and closed cabinetry. This can be a perfect place for staging and prep when entertaining, and with some wall space to work with, you can add wall-mounted hooks for hanging towels and aprons. Another benefit of a butler's pantry is that it has its own storage behind closed doors but it doesn't infringe on the spacious feel of the kitchen, dining area, and living area in your open-floor plan home. Other cabinetry solutions to maximize storage In addition to a walk-in pantry, there are several targeted storage solutions we often specify to make the most of available cabinetry: Trash pull-outs:  Built-in waste and recycling pull-outs in lower cabinets keep bins hidden and free up floor space. Dedicated knife and cutlery storage:  Integrated knife pull-outs or cutlery organizers improve safety and free up drawer space. Base cabinets on the back of the island:  Adding storage to the island's rear gives you a place for less frequently used items—like specialty bakeware or seasonal items—while maintaining a clean front-facing look for entertaining. An open concept kitchen doesn't have to mean compromised storage. A thoughtfully designed walk-in pantry, paired with smart cabinetry features like pull-outs and island storage, gives you the best of both worlds: a bright, open room  that's also highly functional. Thinking through design: what our team can do for you Working with our design team helps you truly understand the potential for your kitchen. We evaluate how you cook, entertain, and store items to generate tailored storage ideas and design practical solutions—whether through cabinetry layout, pantry design, or island storage—that align with your lifestyle. If you're considering opening up a small kitchen into an airy open space, we'd love to help you explore the options. Give us a call  to schedule a consultation and let our design team develop a kitchen plan you'll truly love.

  • Full Frame vs Insert Window Replacement: What You Need To Know

By Christian Raab Is Your Home Letting in Problems You Can't See? You’re not imagining it—your home feels drafty, your energy bills keep climbing, and that one window won’t shut all the way. You know it’s time to replace your windows, but with so many options out there, it’s hard to know which method is best. Homeowners often consider insert replacement windows, which are generally quicker and less disruptive than full frame replacement, making them an appealing option for many DIY projects or smaller renovations. I have talked to many Wichita homeowners, and I know it can be overwhelming! Many homeowners are being sold insert windows. Insert window replacements are installed within the old window frame if it is in good condition. They sound quick and cheap, but they may be covering up bigger problems. Early in my career, I worked for a contractor that did this kind of window replacement. I was shocked at how quickly we could remove and install new windows. There were three of us, and we could replace the windows in a 2000 square foot home in about 1-2 days. Insert replacement windows can often be completed in just a few hours, while full-frame replacement of new construction windows may take several days. I thought it was really awesome! As I grew in my knowledge of construction, I soon realized that pocket windows, in many cases, are covering up problems. Many issues with windows are not just about the window itself but also the frame around it, the lack of insulation between the window and framing, and the rot on the framing around the window. The pocket window method does not reveal any of these problems. Insert replacements do not address issues with the entire frame. A full-frame window replacement allows for a complete inspection and repair of any water damage. Full-frame replacement involves removing the entire existing window, including the frame, to allow for a more thorough installation. This method can provide better insulation and is effective for improving energy efficiency. Without further intro, let's dive in and explore the difference between full frame vs insert window replacement. The Real Problem: Insert Windows Don't Address the Frame Insert (or “pocket”) windows slide a new window inside your old window frame. That sounds convenient—until you realize: The old frame could be rotted, moldy, or poorly insulated, and you would never know! Insert window replacements often retain the existing window sash, which may hide underlying issues like rot or poor insulation. There’s no way to inspect or repair water-damaged framing. Your new windows are only as good as what’s underneath them. With insert window replacements, the new window unit is inserted into the existing frame, rather than replacing the whole frame or rough opening. The fit of the new window within the existing frame (how the window fits) is crucial for performance, but may not address deeper structural issues. Limitations of insert window replacements: Insert window replacements typically only provide new sashes and hardware, not a full replacement. That’s like putting new siding over rotten framing—it looks good now, but the hidden damage keeps growing. By contrast, full-frame window replacement ensures that the framing and insulation are properly addressed, minimizing heat transfer  and improving long-term energy performance. At Pinnacle, We Take a Better Approach: Full-Frame Window Replacement Here is our process: Pinnacle specializes in full frame replacement windows, which involve removing the entire window and frame for a more durable and comprehensive solution. Our full frame window installation process begins by carefully removing the existing window and frame, allowing for a thorough inspection of the window opening and the installation of a new frame. This approach allows us to properly measure the rough opening and install new construction windows or a new window unit that fits perfectly and performs efficiently. This method replaces the entire existing window and frame, not just the sashes, ensuring a clean and long-lasting result. Full frame replacements are ideal for situations where the rough opening or the window unit's size needs to be changed, such as in older homes or when upgrading to new construction windows. Full frame window replacements provide the opportunity to upgrade to a variety of replacement window styles, such as casement windows , bay windows , or awning windows , depending on your home’s design and ventilation needs. This can also include options for both windows and doors. We leave you with windows that look better, seal tighter, and last longer Why Wichita Homes Need This After 15+ years remodeling homes in Wichita , Andover, Derby, and surrounding areas, here’s what we’ve seen again and again: Picking the right option can improve energy efficiency and comfort. Replacing old or damaged windows can address issues caused by harsh weather, such as drafts, leaks, and rising energy bills. When considering window replacements, homeowners can choose between full-frame and insert options. Insert window replacements are a great choice if you want to preserve the existing interior trim and framework, maintaining the original look while upgrading performance. 1. Wichita Weather Is Brutal on Windows Sun, hail, wind-driven rain, and freezing temperatures create wear and tear—especially around old wood frames. Insert windows, ignore that. 2. Many Homes Built in the ‘70s–'90s Used Cheap Windows Many homeowners are now looking to replace windows that were not built to last 40+ years. Full-frame replacement helps upgrade your home’s protection  and extend its lifespan. The improved insulation and airtight seal of a full-frame installation can lead to significant energy savings. 3. You Want It Done Right the First Time Our process ensures nothing is missed—no hidden rot, no air leaks, and no cutting corners. Just solid craftsmanship. Full-frame replacement provides greater customization options, allowing changes in window size or style , such as upgrading to double hung windows or other styles that complement your home’s personal style and functional needs. In contrast, insert replacements may only provide new sashes and hardware, rather than a full upgrade to a different window style. Exterior Trim Considerations: Why Details Matter When it comes to window replacement, the details around your windows can make a big difference in both curb appeal and long-term performance. One of the most important—but often overlooked—details is your exterior trim. The choice between full frame window replacement and insert window replacement has a direct impact on how your exterior trim is handled. With full frame window replacement, the entire window—including the frame, window sash, and exterior trim—is removed to allow installation of new construction windows. This allows you to update or refresh the look of your home’s exterior, whether you want a modern style or to restore classic charm. This allows homeowners to coordinate with other exterior upgrades, such as refreshing vinyl siding , for a cohesive and weather-resistant exterior. Full frame replacement also allows for the installation of new, properly sealed trim, which can help prevent water intrusion and improve energy efficiency. On the other hand, insert window replacement keeps your existing window frame and exterior trim intact. This is a great option if your trim is in good condition and you want to preserve the original character of your home. However, it also means that any issues hidden behind the trim—like rot or poor insulation—may go undetected. Homeowners who have maintained their vinyl windows or siding may find that it pairs well with insert replacement windows, but it’s still important to ensure the framing behind the siding remains in good condition. Ultimately, your decision should be based on the condition of your existing window frame and your goals for your home’s appearance. If you’re looking for a fresh start and improved protection, full frame window replacement is the way to go. If you love your current exterior trim and it’s in good shape, insert window replacement can offer a less disruptive solution. Either way, understanding how each method affects your exterior trim will help you make an informed decision that fits your style and needs. • Southern Grace: A Timeless Whole-Home Remodel

Christian  and Jessica share the process of designing and remodeling this entire home to a Southern-Traditional  style. Recently, Pinnacle Remodel owner,   Christian Raab, teamed up with Jessica —one of our interior designers—to walk through a whole-home transformation we completed for a family who wanted a Southern traditional look with modern functionality. This remodel demonstrates how thoughtful design, clear communication, and skilled craftsmanship can turn a closed-in, dated house into a warm, elegant, and highly livable home. Design Process: From Remote Collaboration to Real-World Results Working with homeowners who don't live on the property requires a clear and structured process. We began with a design agreement that covered a complete design package and selection assistance. Key components of our process included: Detailed floor plans showing the new room locations and circulation. 3D renderings so the family could visualize the finished spaces before construction began. Centralized selection decisions handled with the design team to keep the project moving smoothly despite the distance. Using renderings and coordinated selections made it possible for the clients to make confident choices without being on site for every decision. Design Goals: Southern Traditional, Elevated When I first spoke with the family, they described their style as “southern traditional.” To us, that meant emphasizing custom millwork, classic materials, and thoughtful built-ins while opening and brightening the living areas to suit modern family life. Jessica led the interior direction, focusing on details that reinforce traditional character while keeping the design timeless and usable for everyday life. Key design intentions Incorporate custom cabinetry and millwork for authentic traditional detail. Open the floor plan to improve sightlines and natural light. Use durable, classic materials—marble and quartz—for a timeless palette. Add modern comforts (like heated floors) that enhance daily living. Kitchen Highlights The kitchen was reconfigured to become the home’s focal point. Highlights include: A large, functional island providing workspace and seating for family life. Plentiful custom cabinetry for storage and refined millwork details. Full-height quartz used for countertops and an extended backsplash—an elegant, low-maintenance choice that reads timeless. A walnut butcher-block accent for warmth and contrast. Opening the kitchen into the adjacent living areas dramatically changed how the home feels—moving it from closed-off and dark to bright and inviting. Bathrooms, Master Suite, and Built-Ins We continued the Southern Traditional language through the bathrooms and master suite with extensive built-ins and carefully selected materials: Custom vanity with walnut accents and marble surfaces. A corner shower with double shower heads for comfort and functionality. Heated flooring in key areas for everyday luxury. Extensive marble used selectively to elevate the overall finish palette. A custom built-in in the master bedroom sized precisely for the clients’ TV. A U-shaped closet layout behind the master built-in, providing organized his-and-her zones and a custom shoe display. "The heated floor... made me a believer. It felt amazing." Structural Challenge: Vaulting the Ceilings One of the most impactful changes was opening the main living space by vaulting the ceilings. The existing home had low, eight-foot ceilings that contributed to a closed-in feeling. To gain the open, airy proportion the clients wanted, we needed to install a long engineered beam to carry the loads after removing interior walls. That meant bringing a 35-foot engineered beam onto the site and lifting it into place—an operation that required careful planning and coordination. We could not pass the beam through the front door, so we removed a window to gain access, coordinated the crew, and set the beam nearly 16 feet in the air. That structural move transformed the sense of space and light in the home. "My favorite part by far was vaulting the ceilings... we had to install a 35-foot engineered beam, and by far that's my favorite part." Materials & Finishes The material palette reinforced the Southern Traditional aesthetic while remaining practical for everyday life: Marble is used selectively across bathrooms and feature surfaces for classic elegance. Full-height quartz in the kitchen for durability and a clean, continuous look. Walnut butcher block and custom millwork to add warmth and craftsmanship. Heated floors to introduce modern comfort into classic spaces. Client Experience & Project Outcome The project delivered a dramatic change in layout, scale, and feel. The homeowners are very happy with the results, and our collaboration continues as we move into remodeling their basement. Their experience highlights several advantages of working with a full-service design-build remodeler: Consistent communication and decision-making, even when clients are out of town. Design clarity through floor plans and 3D renderings before construction begins. Execution that respects both aesthetic goals and structural realities. How Pinnacle Approaches Projects Like This At Pinnacle Remodel, we combine craftsmanship, integrity, and a client-first process. For whole-home remodels, that means: Starting with a thorough design agreement that defines the scope and selections. Using drawings and 3D visualizations to set clear expectations. • Client Testimonial: Kitchen Addition Wichita

We recently sat down with Greg and Sharla to hear firsthand about their remodeling experience. What began as a straightforward kitchen upgrade evolved into a thoughtful renovation of the entire first floor and portions of the second. Their story highlights the planning, craftsmanship, and attention bring dream projects to life and the real impact a thoughtful remodel can have on daily life. From a Kitchen Update to an Open, Inviting Home To Greg and Sharla, the project started as a kitchen remodel but quickly expanded as their vision came into focus. They wanted an open, warm, farmhouse-inspired space while preserving function and flow for everyday living. After discussing options and working through design iterations, we moved forward with a plan that opened the main living area and modernized finishes throughout. "This was a project that started off being solely a kitchen project, and by the time we got done, it had encompassed the entire first floor and a good portion of the second floor." -Greg  Key changes that transformed their home To create the open, comfortable space the Parkhursts envisioned, we made several structural and finish updates that fundamentally changed how the home feels and functions: Moved the northern exterior wall out 5½ feet to gain additional living space and improve proportion. Removed the wall between the dining room and kitchen to create one large, open room for cooking, dining, and gathering. Reworked the kitchen layout with new cabinetry and surfaces to maximize usability and visual appeal. Installed a custom black shiplap range hood to anchor the room and support the farmhouse aesthetic. Selected and installed subway tile backsplash, coordinated grout color, and granite countertops for a cohesive look. Updated flooring throughout the renovated areas to create a seamless flow and durability. Made tile installation and specialty finishes suggested during design. Design, Collaboration, and On-Site Work Design direction came from our in-house team led by Christian Raab, who worked closely with the homeowners to refine the look and material selections. We helped simplify decisions by presenting coordinated options for cabinets, countertops, tile, grout, and flooring—making it easy for the clients to visualize the final space and choose what felt right for their home. From the clients' perspective, the on-site experience was just as important as the finished result. And the homeowners appreciated our team’s professionalism, which helped minimize disruption. "The gentleman from Pinnacle Homes was in our house for five months. They cleaned up every day... very professional and very good-hearted guys." -Sharla Client Takeaways: What Matters Most For Greg and Sharla, the most meaningful outcome wasn’t just the finishes or square footage. It was the way the home now feels. The open layout improved the flow and warmth of the main living area, and the finished kitchen fulfilled the design goals they’d hoped for. "My favorite part of this entire project is just—she's happy. This is what she's wanted. It's warm. It's the flow. It's open, and it's been phenomenal." • What's Your Style: Traditional Style Interior Design

The next installation of our series, “What’s your Style”, is the traditional interior design style. Christian and Jessica share some of the key components of traditional style. Traditional   interior design  is one of the most enduring and familiar styles we work with at   Pinnacle . In this edition of our What’s Your Style series, I want to break down the essential elements that define traditional design so you can recognize it in your home and decide whether it fits your tastes and goals for a remodel. How we help you find your style Many clients tell us they are unsure which design style best reflects their preferences. To make the process easier, we use a simple two-step approach: We begin with a short survey to identify preferences and priorities. We follow up with a visual slideshow that shows different styles so you can see the look and feel of each option. This approach lets you see examples rather than guessing from labels. If you want to sit down with our interior designer Jessica to review your preferences and a sample slideshow, we would be happy to help. What makes a style truly traditional? Traditional design is rooted in classic details, rich materials, and a timeless sense of balance. When clients ask what makes a space traditional, here are the features we point to most often. Cabinetry One of the clearest signals of traditional style is cabinetry detail. Traditional   cabinets  typically use raised panels instead of the flat panels found in more contemporary or modern kitchens. The center panel of each door is slightly raised, creating depth, shadow, and an immediate sense of formality and craftsmanship. "Traditional to me, as far as cabinetry goes, are raised panels instead of a flat panel that you see a lot of." Countertops and surfaces Traditional countertops favor organic, varied patterns over the crisp white and gray veining that is common in contemporary looks. Think natural stone motifs with richer, warmer color variations—materials that read as layered and tactile rather than stark and monochrome. Color palette and tones Traditional spaces usually incorporate warmer tones. You will often see multiple tones working together across a room—wood, stone, and painted trim—all balanced to create a comfortable, anchored environment. Wood tones tend to be medium to darker, rather than the very light finishes that are trending in other styles. Architectural detail and trim Decorative moldings, trim profiles, and refined millwork are hallmarks of traditional design. Details such as pencil trim, crown molding, and classical proportions reinforce the style’s sense of permanence and refinement. A real-world example: a traditional bathroom We recently completed a bathroom remodel that illustrates many traditional characteristics. The space used natural stone—travertine—for flooring and wall surfaces, paired with classic trim elements. Pencil trim and detailed molding added the finishing touch, reinforcing the timeless aesthetic. These material choices and details give the bathroom a calm, established feel that will age well over time. Is traditional right for your remodel? If you prefer a classic, layered, and rich in architectural detail, traditional design may be a great fit. It works especially well when you want a home to feel grounded, warm, and comfortably elegant. If you have questions about whether tradition is the right direction for your project or would like to explore design options with our designers, please contact us . We would welcome the opportunity to review your preferences, share a curated slideshow, and help you plan a remodel that reflects your style.

  • 02: What to Expect After Your Consultation with Pinnacle

When thinking through choosing a remodeler for your dream home renovation project, it's important to know what to expect upfront from that contractor. In this piece, I'd like to walk you through the next steps after we’ve visited your home and discussed the high-level scope of your remodeling project, what to expect, how we develop early cost estimates, and the role of the design agreement as you move forward with Pinnacle Remodel. Overview: The First Visit and What Comes Next After we tour your home and review the scope of work, our team returns to the office to begin two important tasks: Develop a budgetary price range that reflects what we expect the project to cost. Prepare and present a design agreement as the recommended next step if you want to move forward with Pinnacle. These steps help transform the initial conversation into an actionable plan while keeping expectations realistic and clear. What Happens During Your Office Meeting When you visit our office, you’ll be greeted by our office manager and escorted to our conference room for a relaxed, focused meeting. Our approach is straightforward and pressure-free. We’ll review the high-level scope of work that was discussed at your home. We’ll share the budgetary price range based on the information gathered during the site visit. We’ll present the design agreement and explain what the next steps look like if you decide to proceed. Our goal is to make sure the project is a strong fit for both you and for Pinnacle—quality projects require clear communication and aligned expectations from the start. Understanding the Budgetary Price Range A budgetary price range is an early estimate that gives you a practical sense of the investment required. It’s not a final bid, but it’s informed by factors such as: Scope and complexity of the work (layout changes, structural work, custom cabinetry, etc.). Quality of materials and finishes you’re likely to choose. Site conditions discovered during the home visit. Local permitting and code requirements. Think of the budgetary range as a directional tool to help you make decisions—whether to proceed to the design phase, scale the project up or down, or adjust priorities to match your budget. What Is the Design Agreement and Why It Matters The design agreement is the next formal step after your initial meeting. It typically covers the services we will provide during the design phase, including: Detailed planning and layout work. Selections of materials and finishes. Refined cost estimates based on finalized drawings and specifications. Project schedule milestones for design and permitting. Entering into a design agreement allows us to invest the time and expertise required to produce accurate drawings and a reliable construction estimate. This is a key step toward a successful, well-managed remodel. How to Prepare for the Meeting To get the most from the meeting, consider bringing or preparing the following: A list of priorities and “must-haves” for the project. Inspirational photos or ideas that show the style and function you want. Questions about timeline, budget flexibility, or disruption during construction. Any existing plans, surveys, or relevant documentation you may have. Having a clear set of goals helps us create a design and budget that aligns with your expectations. What to Expect After You Sign a Design Agreement Once the design agreement is in place, we move into a more detailed work phase: Design development and selections — we finalize layouts and material choices. Refined pricing — detailed estimates replace the initial budgetary range. Permitting and scheduling — we prepare permit-ready drawings and outline a construction timeline. Construction contract — with finalized scope and budget, we prepare a construction agreement to begin building. Each step narrows uncertainty and positions the project for smooth execution when construction begins. Why Pinnacle Remodel Pinnacle Remodel is committed to craftsmanship, integrity, and creating spaces that feel like home. We treat the early stages of a project; site visit, budgeting, and design agreement, as foundational to delivering a high-quality renovation. That early investment in planning reduces surprises, keeps budgets realistic, and helps ensure the finished project reflects your vision. Common Questions and Reassurances We often hear the same concerns at this stage. Here’s how we address them: Will I be pressured to sign?  No. Our meetings are informative and pressure-free. We want the project to be a good fit both ways. How accurate is the initial budget range?  It’s an informed estimate. Accuracy improves significantly after the design phase when selections and drawings are finalized. What if my budget changes?  We build flexibility into the process and can adjust scope or selections to meet your priorities. Conclusion After your first meeting with us, you can expect a clear, professional path forward: an informed budgetary price range, a no-pressure office discussion, and a design agreement that sets the stage for detailed planning. We'd love to work with you on your journey towards transforming your home.   Give us a call . We’re happy to help.
